is HOODIA good for you

The bottom line is, you will have to decide for yourself, as ultimately you are responsible for your health and safety. Hoodia is very popular, because marketing strategies have turned it into a "fashion" weight loss product and endless claims are made why it is so good for you. Only because a few tribes on the African continent claim using it to supress their hunger (and thirst) does not mean anything. Where are the clinical studies on humans? What does it really do to your body, are there unknown side effects?.......we don't know.
How many of Hoodia products are actually effective, meaning they contain enough P57 which is supposed be active in the brain to tell your body "I'm not hungry". There is only limited supply but tons of this stuff sold. Where does it come from? Questions over questions.. I have hardly seen a product recommened as the "ultimate weight loss product" we know so little about it. It all seems to be guess work only.

Besides that, reducing calorie intake by partially starving is NOT A WEIGHT LOSS SOLUTION. There is scientific evidence (and good weight loss programs are telling you) that our body can establish a protective mechanism by slowing down its metabolism in case the low calorie supply continues. Which means it uses less calories and thus you still do not lose weight.

Here is an article at wickipedia. If you want to read the whole article please follow the link. It reads:

"Marketing and spam"

"Lack of scientific evidence or regulatory approval have not stopped dietary supplement companies from marketing Hoodia gordonii supplements with claims that it can lower blood pressure and reduce the appetite."
